Host Families

A Host Family becomes part of a family's support network by inviting the family's son or daughter with disability to come and stay in their home, and be included in the usual routines of the Host's lifestyle. Hosting arrangements can involve overnight, weekend or holiday stays, in ongoing or one-off situations depending upon what suits all parties.

Becoming a Host Family can be a paid role, however, Mamre also acknowledges that many people value this opportunity for what it brings to their life and may prefer that their hospitality as a Host Family/Individual is freely given.

Host Families are required to provide references, and hold a current::

  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Queensland Positive Notice Card for child-related employment (Blue Card) and disability services (DSQ Card).
