Sibling Program

Sibling Program aims to inspire, encourage and embolden siblings to imagine better, to build rich and full lives for their brother or sister and themselves.

Sibling Program will:

  1. provide age appropriate education and information to assist siblings to imagine a full and rich life for their brother or sister;
  2. identify and develop family leaders; and
  3. provide age appropriate opportunities for siblings to develop networks of support around themselves.

Mamre values brothers and sisters and believes that creative and timely support can assist them to stay hopeful, courageous and strong in the long term.

Eligibility

In the first instance, Sibling Program offers support to brothers and sisters in families who have used, or who are currently using, other Mamre family support services.

How does it work?

Each year Sibling Program plans its events in response to need and feedback from brothers and sisters and their parents.

Sibling Program has a Co-ordinator who is responsible for the day-to-day management and contact with the young people and reports to the Team Leader. Other facilitators and presenters are engaged for special events and sessions as required.

Mamre asks families to

  1. support the purpose of Sibling Program; and
  2. give constructive feedback on Mamre services.
